Hello Bulldog Families!
Thursday of last week, we welcomed approximately 400 of our newest Bulldogs at Pup Camp. They came with great energy and enthusiasm. Friday was a fantastic first day back with our faculty and staff! I am excited to share news with you that I shared with the staff on Friday. For our returning bulldog families, you may remember an email towards the end of the year where I shared all of the records Heights had broken in the 2024-2025 school year. I am excited to share that we have broken one more. Heights High School is predicted to be an A-rated campus under the TEA rating system! I could not be more proud of the work that both our staff and students put in to achieve such an outcome! Congratulations to them all!
Below are a few updates to be aware of for this week.
Chromebook Distribution
There were a couple of questions regarding the information sent out last week regarding Chromebook pick-up. I am sharing the schedule again and answering some questions that have been asked:
Pick up Times are from 8:30 - 11:30 (A - M) and 12:30 - 3:30 (M- Z)
Monday, August 4: Seniors
Tuesday, August 5: Juniors
Wednesday, August 6: Sophomores
Thursday-Friday, August 7 - 8: Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors
If your student cannot pick up their Chromebook during their grade level day on Monday - Wednesday, they can pick it up on Thursday or Friday, August 7 - 8. Students unable to pick up their Chromebook during those times will be issued a Chromebook when school starts. The student does need to be present to pick up their Chromebook. We will also take ID pictures during these times.
All incoming 9th-grade students will be issued a Chromebook when school starts.
Schedules
If you or your students are looking at schedules in HISD Connect, please be aware that they are still a work in progress. When the system goes down and everything “rolls over”, a lot of things get lost. This happens for several reasons. Know that our counseling team started to work on them immediately when they were back on campus Friday. They will review course requests and do everything possible to make sure student schedules are correct before school starts. This also includes leveling classes as best we can before school starts. For now, it would be best to just stay off of HISD Connect for schedules. As soon as I get the word that they are complete, I will communicate that.
New Parent Orientation
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, I will host a new parent orientation from 5:30 - 6:30 in the performance hall. The garage on 14th Street will be open. If you use street parking, please be aware of the permit-only parking spaces around the school. Please don’t block the driveways of our neighbors. The PTO store will be open before and after the orientation if you would like to pick up some Heights Merch. We will record the presentation and include it on our website and on the PTO Facebook page for those that cannot attend.
